Financial Aid

Saxtons River Montessori School (SRMS) recognizes that an offer of financial assistance may be an important factor in your decision to enroll your child at SRMS. The school offers partial scholarships based on financial need and the amount of money available in our scholarship fund. If you wish to apply for scholarship aid, we ask that you first check to see if your family is eligible for Bright Futures tuition assistance before completing and submitting a scholarship application.

Please contact us for a printed Scholarship Application form.

Decisions on scholarships are generally made after your child has been accepted. All information is strictly confidential.

Apply

Please read the 2024-2025 cover letter before applying. We often have a waitlist at SRMS and encourage families to apply a year or more before their child turns 3 years old. Please be sure to note the current age of your child and the academic year you would like your child to attend SRMS.

NEW STUDENTS

The New Student Application Form must be completed and returned
to SRMS, along with a $25 application fee in order to be considered for admission. You will receive notification of your child’s placement in your program of choice by mid-June.

Once you receive notification, the next step will be to complete an Enrollment Form and submit a $200 tuition deposit to confirm your place in the program. Tuition deposits are applied to the full year’s tuition payment. Any reserved placements that are unconfirmed by July 15, 2024 will be made available to other applicants.

Applications, along with the $25 application fee, may be submitted by mail (P.O. Box 98, Saxtons River, VT 05154) or by email to: maeve@srmontessori.org.

The Building

The Saxtons River Montessori School is nestled in the heart of Saxtons River, Vermont. This location is well placed to serve children from Saxtons River and the surrounding villages of Vermont and New Hampshire.

We are fortunate to have our little school in a beautiful village home, which reflects Dr. Maria Montessori’s original vision of a Casa dei Bambini, or a “House of Children.” In a house designed specifically for children, everything is child-sized and child-oriented so that the student can be self-directed and independent. Our Victorian farmhouse was built in the late nineteenth century and acquired by the school in the early 1990s. The playground and surrounding open fields are an integral part of the SRMS curriculum.

Full Day Preschool

Full Day Preschool students regroup after morning recess with a community lunch, followed by read-aloud and rest time. Our older students meet together with a teacher for journal time and afternoon lessons in the East room, while the younger students nap in our West room. As the younger children wake up, we gather together again for crafts, games and outdoor play.
